Learn through real work
Career exploration at Leaders extends beyond talking about possible jobs. Students have opportunities to build experience through internships, work-based learning and a FutureReadyNYC pathway focused on business and entrepreneurship.
Internships and work-based learning

- NYC Outward Bound currently states that Leaders employs a full-time internship coordinator who arranges interns for juniors.
-
- The current MySchools directory adds that Leaders is a FutureReadyNYC school with a Business & Entrepreneurship focus and offers opportunities for internships, paid work-based learning and early college credit.
-
- FutureReadyNYC is designed around career-connected instruction, advising, early college opportunities and credentials, financial literacy, and work-based learning that can include paid experience.
-
- This is why the current proposed title, Internships and Apprenticeships, should not be used. No authoritative Leaders source reviewed for this project confirms a Leaders apprenticeship program. “Work-Based Learning” is both broader and better supported by current evidence.
-
- The page should eventually include real employer or community partners, examples of student roles and a clear explanation of how students are matched with opportunities—but only after Leaders approves the current list.
